2009 Folsom Cyclebration

The annual Folsom Cyclebration is happening this weekend starting Friday, September 11, 2009. This a family friendly biking event geared towards everyone… road biking, mountain biking, cruising, cyclocross… you name it.

Mountain bike events include Fam Jam dirt jumping under the lights–mini vendor fair, Mountain Bike Time Trial, Mammoth Bar Downhill Race, Folsom Lake XC Mountain Bike Race and Cyclocross at Negro Bar.

Folsom Cyclebration is considered Northern California’s most fun, family-friendly weekend of bicycle riding and racing.

18th Annual Kernville Fat Tire Festival

The 18th Annual Kernville Fat Tire Festival is taking place October 16-18, 2009. This years theme.. Monster Mash. The great thing about The Kernville Fat Tire Festival is it has something for all levels of mountain bikers from beginner to extreme.

Good info to remember:

  • First to sign up, first to receive guaranteed shuttle -
  • Pick-up event packet at MRA Campground (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Only)
  • Weather is unpredictable! Be ready for rain, shine or snow!
  • Elevation ranges from 2,650′ to 9,000′. Be ready to ride and make sure your bike is checked over.
  • Ride and event schedules are subject to change – check with MRA Registration.
  • Caravan shuttle for some rides.
  • Be at ride departure location 30 minutes early for loading.
  • Bikes can get scratched when being shuttled.
  • NO WHINING! Just Ride! Enjoy!


2nd Annual JORBA Bike Festival (New Jersey)

The Jersey Off-Road Bicycle Association (JORBA) presents the 2nd Annual JORBA Bike Festival. The JORBA Bike Festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the Waterloo Concert Field, 10 Kinney Road, Stanhope, NJ.

The goal of the “fest” is to promote responsible trail stewardship and cycling advocacy and awareness in New Jersey. The festival will feature events and activities for all ages and multiple cycling disciplines; mountain, cruiser, BMX, unicycles, you name it. All are encouraged to visit and enjoy this fun filled day, for the whole family. JORBA

Highlights of the festival include…

  • Guided trail rides in Allamuchy, Deer Park and Stephens State Park for all skill levels, including womens only rides and a kids ride.
  • A massive raffle,with tons of great swag.
  • Demonstrations and group rides with IMBA Trail Care Crew members Kelly and Collins.
  • Bike Demos from top names like Giant, Specialized and Trek.

Michigan Mountain Bike Festival September 4-6

The annual Michigan Mountain Bike Festival is happening again this year at Hanson Hills in Grayling, MI. this coming Laybor Day weekend.

According to the Michigan Mountain Bike Associating forum, this years event is  FREE.. including camping.

There is also some pretty good information in the Portland Examiner.

Food will be served at the “Dollar Diner” Friday and Saturday.  Visitors are welcome to bring their favorite beverages in a cooler.  Grayling also has several restaurants that provide affordable dining.

The bike festival will include a mountain bike cross country race starting on the trails at Hartwick Pines State Park.  The race will move along the non-motorized pathway to Hanson Hills Recreation Area where riders will complete one lap on the mountain bike trails.  The race distance is 28 miles.  Entry for the mountain bike race is $10.



Mountain Bike Oregon – Last Call for Guides

The July Mountain Bike Oregon festival has past. Word is… it was a great gathering and everybody is pumped up for August MBO.

Just got word that Mountain Bike Oregon  has assembled nearly 70 guides for August MBO and are about to cap the application / registration.  So if you want to be an MBO Guide for August… today is probably gonna be your last opportunity.

Downieville Classic Mountain Bike Race and Festival

Downieville Classic Mountain Bike Race and Festival is on for July 10-12 2009. The race is sold out but any trip to Downieville is sure to come with some fascinating stories. According the official website there is a waiting list of about 100 riders. BUT.. there is some contest going on sponsored by Santa Cruz.
