This really has nothing to do with mountain biking but I felt I needed to add my commentary. I’ll spare the photo as the whole nation has seen it and don’t really want a picture of him my website anyway.
Who cares that he isn’t wearing a helmet. Most states that have helmet laws only apply to people under 18 years old. He’s riding around Martha’s Vineyard.. I don’t think they have a whole lot of cars there. and to top it off, they appear to be riding a sidewalk or bike path.
On Babble.com, a website for parents, Josh Loposer write, “Truly despicable isn’t it? What kind of example is he setting for the nation’s youth?”
It amazes me that people of so much time on their hands to criticize him on a helmet but not on his reckless spending or the fact that he still hasn’t disclosed his long form birth certificate. Legally, he shouldn’t even be President.
I started this blog at the very beginning of the summer not thinking how busy I was going to be having fun. So for all that have decided to follow us on Twitter.. thanks for the follow.
And if you’re not following us on Twitter.. you should.
As I mentioned in my first post, I have a GT iDrive 4.0. I acquired it from my wife.. she bought back in 2001 when GT liquidated and got a killer deal. The problem was she bought a large thinking it could fit with a shorter stem. She got to ride it several times but then from 2004 on she’s been pregnant. Once we got to Eugene she wanted to sell it and I said no way.. you’ll never replace it for the price you paid and plus.. I’d love a full suspension but can’t afford the bike I’d really like to have.
I just started riding the bike last week. I’d been waiting for things to dry up around here, plus I had a bunch of work to do on it. Back in February, I scored a deal on some brand new WTB rims and new Avid BB7 Disc Brakes on Craigslist.. those needed to be installed. Being that my Trek hardtail got converted to a single speed.. I carried over my Shimano XT rear deraileur and XT Brake Lever / Rapid Fire Shifter combos.
Other than the wheels, shifters & brakes.. the rest of the bike is stock with with Truvitiv cranks, Fox Vanilla rear shock and Judy XC Front Shock.
The bike is pretty heavy in my opinion but I don’t mind all that much.. she rides pretty well and the excentric bottom bracket helps in retain some of the pedal power typically lost on a full suspension. I’m still learning how to ride a FS, and I have more and more fun everytime I take her out. It’s amazing how fast and hard you can hit stuff and remain in complete control. So that’s the skinny on my GT iDrive, nothing too crazy… just an average bike in my opinion… that’s comfortable to ride.
You can tell I haven’t been riding in years because I pretty much have a bike that dates back to 2000… and she rides like she’s nearly brand new.

Well, after several months of debating, pondering and procrastinating… I’ve finally decided to start up my mountain biking blog. This mtb blog is something I’ve wanted to do for many years now.. I just never could come up with the right domain name and the motivation to do it. The lack in motivation stemmed from where we were living.. and probably is an important chapter of my life. But we’re here to talk about mountain biking not to do a clinical review of my sorry ass.
First.. I’ll introduce myself. I’m Sammy I’m currently 35 years young and I’ve been mountain biking since 1994. More importantly I’ve been infatuated with bicycles since I was 4yrs old (at least that’s the furthest I have memories). I’m married to my lovely wife Carrie (who also mountain bikes occasionally) and together we have 3 wonderful kids. I’m self employed… I am Search Friendly Web Design.
